Moving out of the city

Updated: Aug 16, 2023

The coronavirus pandemic, social unrest and urban crime rate has inspired an increasing number of city dwellers to ditch the city and buy a quiet place away from the crowd. Technology and cost reduction have shifted many companies' attitude towards remote working phenomena, Americans of all income and ages are moving in high record to suburban and small towns. I for one have always ripped the benefit of living in suburban America and I am glad many are taking advantage of the lifestyle change and I would like to share some of the advantage.

Bonding community

While the hysteria on the mainstream media have us believe America is in racial turmoil, this is far from the true for many. There is a sense of harmony amongst the many racially and ethnically diverse neighborhood in this country, most neighbors are warm and friendly people regardless of ethnicity, political view or religious background. People strongly support each other while still respecting their boundaries.

Cheaper and bigger living space

The general cost of living tend to be more affordable in most suburb. The price of a spacious family home might equal to that of a studio apartment in the city. In most cases property tax, groceries and utilities also seem to run lower. The living space and well-maintain condition of the suburb well surpasses that of many cities. Furthermore families with children will give them the ability to roam freely in their yard and bond with other children in their area. The suburbs make getting around and parking easy

Nature is right outside your door

A radiant city skyline can be beautiful but nothing beats nature right outside your door. There is a big shift on stress level when living in quieter and less congested place and most suburbanite enjoy a closer connection with nature. In most areas lakes and beaches are a short distance so there are plenty outdoor activities. There are much greenery grass and trees and less subway platform and crowded street.

Crime rate

There are many talking point escalating on defunding police in some cities. While statistic consistently shows major cities have higher property crime rates, household burglaries, theft and violent crime rates, the surrounding suburbs crime rates remains relatively low.

Entertainment

In the suburb you’re close enough to get to the city for cultural events, but you can also enjoy shopping, restaurants, healthcare and emergency services right in your own community. Also many new urbanism is bringing more variety and options to suburban residents, making it more sufficient.

Education

If you have children and their education is valuable to you there is a higher chance the school system is much better. Small towns tend to have smaller schools and supportive school choice. This means your children get more individual attention from quality teachers.

Suburban life offers both a quality and a quantity of life, it is a much happier environment when compared to the hustle and bustle of city life.
